From his northern post in Cochrane, Alberta (Canada), Bart Farkas lives with his wife, three lovable children, and a trio of furry felines that help to keep the family warm during the winter months. Bart can best be described as an elder-statesman of sorts when it comes to strategy guides. With over 100 print computer and video game strategy guides to his name, Bart knows strategy guides perhaps a little too well. Bart continues to write strategy guides as well as other non-fiction works that fall outside the realm of gaming and technology. An avid amateur football official, Bart also works with the Canadian Football League with Instant Replay officiating.

As the game begins, there are a series of Tutorial quests that help you to understand the interface and the various aspects of how to successfully navigate in the Hellgate: London universe. The game begins in Russell Square near the Holborn Station (the first hub). You are initially required to complete several quests that are basically just tutorial instructions.
