While the specific focus of this work is African American politics in the 'margins' of the South, this timely work examines minority and ethnic politics in rural America and other democratic societies. E. Ike Udogu is a Full Professor in the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice at Appalachian State University. He received his Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He is the author of several published works including Nigeria in the 21st Century: Strategies for Political Stability and Peaceful Coexistence, and is the Association of Third World Studies Vice President and President-Elect, 2005-2007.
