Loretta I. Winters possesses a Ph.D. in Sociology and is biracial. She has co-published and presented chapters and papers with her co-editor Herman L. DeBose on ongoing research on multiracial identity at several conferences and was instrumental in locating the Multiracial Americans of Southern California′s 10th Annual Conference at California State University, Northridge, where she is a professor in the Department of Sociology. As a result of their research activities and paper presentations, Drs. Winters and DeBose have formed networks with other scholars who conduct research in the area of multiraciality and/or are politically active and supportive of multiracial people.

Herman L. DeBose possesses a Ph.D. in Social Welfare, is married to a woman of another race, and has four biracial children. He has co-published and presented chapters and papers with his co-editor Loretta I.
