Teach Them ALL to Read: Catching the Kids Who Fall Through the Cracks is aimed at all teachers, providing them with a short course in the most current reading research regarding how students learn to read. Author Elaine McEwan emphasizes that learning to read is only the first step; students must also develop fluency, acquire cognitive strategies, and continue to read to deepen their knowledge and understanding. Teach Them ALL to Read urges teachers to focus on the variables at work in their classrooms and provides them with a foundation from which to make informed decision regarding their student′s personal needs. With the foundation laid and specific needs identified, the variables affecting reading abilities can be altered to create a reading culture and make a huge difference in reading achievement.
