At last a single authored, carefully planned undergraduate textbook which tells you all you need to know about the theory and practice of cultural studies. The book maps the field, and guides you through the core issues. It covers all of the topics included on Cultural Studies courses. It′s written in an uncluttered and accessible style. It does not rely on the experience of any single country to make its points. Instead it is a book for the English-speaking world of Cultural Studies where you will find out about: the key concepts in Cultural Studies (an extensive glossary is included); the key figures and schools of thought; the essential methodologies; the historical roots of the subject; the turns toward ideology, language, gender, race and identity; the challenges posed by postmodernism and postcolonialism; what cultural studies can bring to cultural policy.
Comprehensive in scope, and authoritative in its analysis, the book offers a one-stop introduction to Cultural Studies.
