Richard Mahler, a resident of Santa Fe since 1988, has written for more than a dozen area publications, including regular columns about life in Northern New Mexico. Richard is the author of eight books, including "Santa Fe Memories" and "New Mexico's Best, " winner of the silver medallion award from the American Travel Writers Foundation. Richard also reports from Santa Fe for various radio networks, including CBS and National Public Radio. He shares a faux-adobe house in Casa Alegre with his cat, Chumley.
Co-author Nicky Leach has written or contributed to 22 guidebooks focusing on the natural and cultural history of the American West and Hawaii. She also writes regularly for "Sunset "and "New Mexico" magazines. Nicky lives in a beautiful canyon north of Santa Fe with her tabby cat, Molly, and loves to hike, camp, and explore the Southwest in "The Princess," her white Jeep.
