Synopsis

The backroads of Maine lead to unspoiled coastal villages, pristine lakes, and small museums. This guide will show travelers how to find them, as well as an artists' cooperative that sells handcrafted pottery in Portland, a private campground on Hermit Island, and a fort made entirely of granite at the mouth of the Kennebec River.
