He is the coauthor of the bestselling Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Birds, East and the author of several other bird books, including Birds of New York State. Edith Hellman Bull taught science for many years at the American Museum of Natural History, Educational Department, both in the Natural Science Center for Young People and in the Hospital Program for Handicapped Children. Gerald Gold, a longtime birder, was an editor, reporter, and columnist at The New York Times for 41 years. Prize-winning artist Pieter Prall is a former Audubon Society Artist-in Residence. His illustrations have appeared in American Birds Magazine, New Jersey Audubon Magazine, Amicus Journal and other publications.
