About the Author A. Lewis Soens, Jr., received his Ph.D. in English from Princeton University and has taught in several distinguished departments of English, including at the University of Colorado and the University of Notre Dame. Patrick Salerno has worked as a teacher of language, literature, and composition, and as a curriculum developer in the fields of English and language arts.
