Arnold Beichman has observed and written about the Soviet Union and foreign affairs for more than three decades. A former foreign correspondent, he has been in Vietnam, the Congo, and Yemen, and has visited the Soviet Union three times. He is now a Research Fellow of the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution, and Peace at Stanford University. He is the author of four books and a regular columnist for the Washington Times.
