The greatest non-team in comics gets the Epic treatment! J.M. DeMatteis and Don Perlin take Doctor Strange, the Hulk, Nighthawk, Hellcat and the Son of Satan on wild adventures into the occult - and against each other. These weird tales begin with a broken Eternity, evolve to include demons, Dracula and the Devil-Slayer, and culminate in a double-sized issue #100 extravaganza. If the Defenders can't prevail it'll be Hell on Earth -literally! Collectively known as "The Six-Fingered Hand Saga," it's one of the most compelling Defenders adventures of all time.
COLLECTING: VOL. 6; DEFENDERS (1972) 92-109; MARVEL TEAM-UP (1972) 101; CAPTAIN AMERICA (1968) 268

J. M. DeMatteis has been a professional musician, a rock journalist, and a writer for film and television, but he's best known as a critically acclaimed, Eisner Award winning writer of comic books. In addition to his work on Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, and many other pop culture icons, he is the author of an acclaimed autobiographical graphic novel, Brooklyn Dreams, as well as the Abadazad series for young readers. Mr. DeMatteis lives with his family in New York. This is his first novel for HarperCollins.
Mike W. Barr has written in every one of the first four incarnations of Star Trek: Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager -- in either comic book or other formats. His credits include the first comic book version of Star Trek that was commercially viable and critically acclaimed; Camelot 3000. He also worked on the first comic book maxi-series, with artist Brian Holland - Batman: Son of the Demon. This graphic novel's proceeds restored DC Comics to first place in sales after fifteen years. Barr's Batman scripts have been adapted for the mobie Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and for several episodes of the Batman cartoon show and he continues to be a profilic writer of novels.
Steve Ditko continues to create comics in his studio in New York City.
