Trade Paperback. Etat : Good. Adams, Ansel - Cover (illustrateur). First Printing. 276 Pages with Author and Title Index. A textdbook made expecially for the students who take English 101 at the University of New Mexico. It's designed to help them think about the kinds of questions people study in academic context and the ways they try to answer them. As students read, discuss, and write about the essays, articles, stories, poems, and photogaphs in this book, they will also be learning to explore issues, to think, and to write in the ways common to the university. The first edition of La Puerta, poublished in 1997, featured work submitted by the faculty, staff, and students of UNM. Almost five thousand students have used the boook, exploring the work of UNM's historians, fiction writers, sociologists, architects, and poets. For the new edition, the editors have chosen a new selection of work by members of the UNM community, retaining only one poem from the first edition. But in addition to the sumitted material, we have chosen pieces we found in other places, essays and articles that we found especially readable and compelling, poems and photos that illuminate the unique blend of cultures and geographies that make up New Mexico and enliven the university. Wanda Martin is Director, Freshman English Program at UNM. N° de réf. du vendeur 8866
