MARGARET A. DURONIO is director of planning and administration in the office of the vice chancelllor for institutional advancement at the University of Pittsburgh. She has served as project director and principal investigator of five national studies on fund raising. Duronion is coauthor (with B. Loessin) of Effective Fund Raising in Higher Education (Jossey--Bass, 1991). EUGENE R. TEMPEL is vice chancellor for external affairs at Indiana University----Purdue Univerisity, Indianapolis and part--time executive director of the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy. He currently serves as vice chair for external affairs of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives Board.
