Synopsis
The book tells the tale of a young elephant who sneaks away from his herd to follow a cattle egret to a stream. Careless and carefree, he is threatened by a crocodile. The grandmother elephant who leads the herd notices his absence and with the herd rescues him in the nick of time. Ever afterward, the young elephant stays close to his mother. Throughout the story and following it are fascinating facts about the lives of elephants and their African cousins. Also included is a game page that will delight young naturalists. This wonderful nature book with its inviting illustrations is both fun and educational, and children will want to own all the books in the series.
