paperback. Etat : Near Fine. B. B. Warfield (Benjamin Breckinridge Warfield, 1851?1921) was a leading American Presbyterian theologian, professor, and author, widely regarded as the last of the great "Old Princeton" theologians and a staunch defender of Reformed orthodoxy and biblical inerrancy. He graduated with high honors from the College of New Jersey (Princeton University) in 1871, initially focusing on mathematics and science. He then studied at Princeton Theological Seminary (graduating in 1876) and pursued further studies in Germany. In 1887, he succeeded A. A. Hodge in the Charles Hodge Chair of Didactic and Polemic Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary, where he served until his death. He was the last principal of the seminary (1886?1902) before it transitioned to a presidential model.A prolific scholar, he edited The Princeton Theological Review for over 20 years, wrote numerous books, articles, sermons, and over 1,200 book reviews. He was a gifted linguist, exegete, and polemicist. Warfield is best known as the theologian of biblical inspiration and inerrancy. He argued that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God in its original autographs (verbal plenary inspiration), countering higher criticism, liberalism, and modernism. His work with A. A. Hodge on this topic was influential. Often called ?the Lion of Princeton,? Warfield is considered one of America?s greatest theologians (second only to Jonathan Edwards by some). His writings remain widely read in Reformed and evangelical circles for their scholarly depth, clarity, and defense of orthodoxy. Warfield exemplified rigorous intellect paired with deep piety, making him a pivotal figure in preserving conservative Presbyterian theology in the face of 19th- and early 20th-century challenges.A collection of the Princeton theologian?s essays, articles, and book reviews on the relationship between evolutionary theory, science, and the Bible. It presents Warfield?s careful, nuanced engagement with Darwinism and related scientific questions while upholding the inerrancy and authority of Scripture.Description: Red covers with white and yellow lettering.
