Victor McKusick's "Mendelian Inheritance in Man" (MIM) is a reference book for geneticists who need information on genetic disorders and the genes involved. Containing nearly 9000 entries grouped according to mode of inheritance, the book is based on information in a continuously updated, on-line database (OMIM). John Mulvihill has extracted from the OMIM the approximately 7000 entries relating to cancer and grouped them according to the organ system in which they occur in the human body. The entries are reproduced from OMIM as of December 1998. For each entry, Mulvihill has written a note on the features of the disorder that are of importance to oncologists. His goal is to make information from this valuable genetics resource available to clinical and research oncologists.

Hardcover. Etat : Near Fine. No Jacket. With a sub-title of 'McKusick's Mendelian Inheritance In Man For Clinical And Research Oncologists'. / This is a catalog of human cancer genes. According to the author, its origin stems from several factors. First is the growing unwieldiness of the genetics "bible", Mendelian Inheritance in Man (MIM). Due to additional entries attributable to discoveries from the Human Genome Project (HGP), MIM has become somewhat cumbersome to use. Thus the author has attempted to remove those citations from MIM (using MIM nomenclature) that are associated with neoplasia and has put them all into a single volume, containing all of the known 'genes and/or disorders that predispose to or are associated with neoplasia'. /// This is a 'cloth-bound' 1st edition hardback in near to fine condition. (646 pages & 25 pages of Introduction). This is a heavy book over 2kg, so there will be an extra postage charge. N° de réf. du vendeur 7906
