This year, Luke Johnson and his partner, Clay Peters, decide to drive their cattle to market themselves. They want to take advantage of the good price being offered at the railhead and then hightail it back to the ranch so that Clay can marry his girl, Breen Ryan. But suddenly Luke comes down with the measles—and the disease quickly spreads to the other cowhands too.

Clay, the only one who's immune, leaves Luke and the others in the care of a doctor, then hires some new hands and starts off again. Recovered, Luke sets off to join Clay and finds him bleeding and left for dead by the hands, who have run off with the herd.
