Synopsis

Intended for physiotherapists, occupational therapists and students, this book examines the measurement of joint motion. Range-of-motion tables presenting the ROM needed for the performance of functional activities are included for all the joints. The coverage of recording has been clarified and expanded, including the SFTR recording method, and a variety of recording forms are given to familiarize the student with a representative sampling of forms in current use. The illustrations of starting and finishing positions, as well as of stabilization, aim to help students to visualize the complete procedure. The chapter on reliability and validity has been expanded and includes a review of recent literature, and features exercises designed to teach the student to perform the necessary calculations for determining inter- and intra-tester reliability. Numerous exercises break down the learning process and reinforce the acquisition of good, careful technique.
