The half-city-block long sidewheeler, S.S. Brother Jonathan, struck an uncharted reef in 1865 off Northern California. Biographie de l'auteur

Dennis M. Powers was a full-time attorney specializing in business law before turning his concentration to writing nearly three decades ago. He is the author of fifteen published nonfiction books, among other publications, along with different fictional, poetry, magazine, and newspaper works. A graduate of the Harvard Business School, he is the Professor Emeritus of Business Law at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon, where he resides with his wife, Judy, two cats, and libraries of books. Among his other maritime history books are The Raging Sea, Sentinel of the Seas, Tales of the Seven Seas and Taking the Sea.
