Egon Schiele was born in 1890 in Tulln on the Danube, Lower Austria. He was an Austrrian painter of Expressionism. Together with Gustav Klimt and Oskar Kokoschka, he is one of the most important visual artists of Viennese Modernism. Schiele was a victim of the Spanish influenza epidemic and lost his life in 1918 at the age of 28 and is buried in Vienna. Schiele's works today achieve top prices at international auctions. In museums worldwide, his paintings are highly valued because in spite of their artistic genius the works find admiration of Schiele's reputation as "early perfection". The largest collections of Schiele's works are located in Viennese museums such as the Leopold Museum, the Belvedere and the Albertina. In addition to numerous self-portraits, Schiele is known above all for his acts, which show men, women and children. His landscapes and images of cities are also gaining in popularity. This book contains nearly his entire work: 275 paintings in full color.

Hardcover. Etat : As New. Etat de la jaquette : Good. A 2" tear to dustjacket. Egon Leo Adolf Ludwig Schiele (1890 ? 1918) was an Austrian Expressionist painter. His work is noted for its intensity and its raw sexuality, and for the many self-portraits the artist produced, including nude self-portraits. The twisted body shapes and the expressive line that characterize Schiele's paintings and drawings mark the artist as an early exponent of Expressionism. Gustav Klimt, a figurative painter of the early 20th century, was a mentor to Schiele. N° de réf. du vendeur SKU2010031060
