Obviously for Robert Nye, as for all good poets, words have a magic and ultimate power for those with the gift of using them well. Mr. Nye published his first poems in The London Magazine when he was sixteen. (One of these - 'Kingfisher' - is in the present collection.) He has since published poems in The Atlantic Monthly, New World Writing, Encounter, and the Times Literary Supplement. Two volumes of early work Juvenilia 1 and 2 - were published in 1961 and 1963.
