The Americans with Disabilities Act was heralded by its congressional sponsors as an ""emancipation proclamation"" for people with disabilities and as the most important civil rights legislation passed in a generation. Peter David Blanck is a professor of law, psychology, and preventive medicine at the University of Iowa. His publications include Genetic Discrimination and the Employment Provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act: Emerging Legal, Empirical, and Policy Implications; Interpersonal Expectations: Theory, Research, and Applications; and Nonverbal Communication in the Clinical Context.
