Wharton Esherick (1887-1970) lived to create. He found his true voice in sculpture, working primarily in local woods he gathered from the forest surrounding his home and studio in rural Pennsylvania. Mansfield Bascom is Wharton Esherick's son-in-law and the curator of the Wharton Esherick Museum in Paoli, Pennsylvania. Bascom and his wife, Ruth, have lived in Esherick's workshop since his death in 1970 and continue to give tours of the house that Esherick so lovingly crafted.
