Synopsis

After beginning his career as a 12-year-old riverboat deckhand, Grant Marsh went on to serve with the Federal Mississippi River flotilla during the Civil War. He began piloting the Missouri River in 1873, and was the most popular steamboat captain when the army hired his Far West for the duration of the notorious Great Sioux War. Marsh had the unenviable task of delivering the bad news of the Little Bighorn disaster, as he carried the battle's wounded to North Dakota.
