Synopsis
Until his death in 1980, Erich Fromm was one of the world's leading psychoanalysts - yet some of his key works still remain unavailable in English. This book is one of Fromm's most important books on his understanding and practice of psychoanalysis, based on Freud's essential insight into the unconscious and is now available for the first time in the English language. Fromm replaces Freud's mechanistic-materialistic philosophy with a humanistic one, presenting a revision of psychoanalysis which is both humanistic and dialectical. Erich Fromm was a practising psychoanalyst, a social scientist and the author of "Escape from Freedom", "The Art of Loving" and "To Have or to Be?" Rainer Funk was Erich Fromm's last assistant.
