Paperback small octavo, very good condition, top edge foxed, pages lightly toned as usual, minor edgewear. 282 pp. Frank Furedi traces the history of Western colonial racist ideology and its role in subjugating non-Western peoples. He analyzes the changing perception of racism in the West and how the use of 'race' has altered during the course of the 20th century. The defeat of Nazism (the end of World War 2) and the following Cold War was the turning point in the Western definition of 'racism'. White supremicist colonialism gave way to portraying racism as a natural part of the human condition, and thus the West continued to adopt a moral high ground to the ultimate detriment of non-Western nations. The author is professor of sociology, University of Kent. N° de réf. du vendeur 24266
