Synopsis
Analyzing existing plantation records, artefacts, and ruins, the author has produced a history of a 17th- and 18th-century Virginian slave community. The labourers were newly-enslaved Africans whose community shifted with marriages and deaths but remained in or near Virginia for over two centuries.
