Current Surgical Therapy, 6/e, consists of 254 brief chapters. Each chapter deals with the treatment of a condition that is seen with some frequency by general surgeons. Contributors were chosen not only for their prominence in the field but also (and more importantly) because they are actively involved in patient care. Chapters follow a similar outline, covering patient selection, timing of therapy, preoperative care, operative technique, postoperative management, adjuvant therapy, prevention and management of complications, and follow-up. Diagnosis and pathophysiology are covered only to the extent that they affect treatment choices.
