Hardbound in slipcase. Etat : New. Etat de la jaquette : new. First Edition. This comprehensive three volume work consists of an ethnographic study of community life among some 9,000 inhabitants on the island of Ap Lei Chau, Hong Kong (given the pseudonym Lung Chau in the work). Osgood, a Yale anthropologist, spent much of his time on the island between 1960-66, during which this study took place. His detailed accounts of the lives of the people, their social connections and particularly their economic structures - mostly family businesses and light manufacturing - captured a way of life now mostly lost as Hong Kong has since transformed into an international financial and trade juggernaut. The set, in slipcase, is in new condition; never opened and still in publisher's shrink wrap. Vol. 1: xviii, 1-445, 102 illustrations (photos, drawings, maps), 10 charts; Vol. 2: xv, 447-966, 122 illustrations, 6 charts; Vol. 3: xiii, 967-1264 pp., 6 illustrations, 14 charts. PLEASE NOTE: this set is heavy and oversize. Orders outside of Canada will require additional postage, to be advised. Size: 26 x 18 cm. N° de réf. du vendeur 002394
