The Editors: Anthony E. Hartle is a professor of philosophy at the United States Military Academy. He has combined academic and military careers, having taught at West Point for eleven years while also serving in a wide variety of military assignments, ranging from commanding an infantry battalion to serving as a staff member on the Presidential Commission on the Space Shuttle Challenger Accident. Dr. Hartle, a colonel in the U.S. Army, has published Moral Issues in Military Decision Making (1990), as well as articles in various philosophy and military journals.
John Kekes is Professor of Philosophy and Public Policy at the State University of New York at Albany. He is the author of A Justification of Rationality (1976), The Nature of Philosophy (1980), The Examined Life (1988) and over 80 scholarly articles on epistemology and ethics. He is a Rockefeller and an Earhart Fellow; the General Editor of a book series, Studies in Moral Philosophy; and a Consulting Editor of Moral Tradition and Individuality (1989), Facing Evil (1990), Public Affairs Quarterly.
