Media Literacy : A Reader produces a critical understanding of media culture designed to help students develop the ability to interpret media as well as understand the ways they themselves consume and affectively (emotionally) invest in media. The Editors : Donaldo Macedo is Professor of English and Distinguished Professor of Liberal Arts and Education at the University of Massachusetts Boston. A leading authority and the author of many books and articles, he is internationally known in critical pedagogy and critical literacy studies. Shirley R. Steinberg teaches at McGill University in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education. She is the author and editor of many books and articles in cultural studies, youth culture, and critical pedagogy. She is the Director of the Paulo and Nita Freire International Project for Critical Pedagogy at McGill University.
