Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. xx, 578 pp., 23 cm. ; ISBN: 0824059468 (alk. paper); LCCN: 89-11762 ; OCLC: 19846333 ; Philip Ziegler was born in 1929 and was educated at Eton and New College, Oxford. He then joined the Diplomatic Service and served in Vientiane, Paris, Pretoria and Bogota before resigning to join the publisher William Collins, where he was editorial director for more than fifteen years. ; "Biographical works on over 900 celebrities in the fields of popular film, television, music, and sports are cited in this bibliography. Some celebrities chosen for inclusion were selected from the 1973 edition of the Celebrity Register, which accounts for the puzzling appearance of names like Mary Pickford and Betty Grable (both long deceased) in a work covering celebrities of "today." The most useful sections cite biographies of individual celebrities, though these are not annotated.Indexes by subject, title, and name facilitate access."-- Richard W.
