Revue de presse

This study, by a Roman Catholic sister and liturgics professor, an Episcopal laywoman who teaches sociology at Hartford Seminary, and a United Church of Christ pastor, contains many quotations and data from a survey of more than 7000 women. The study reveals some of the pervasiveness of women's feelings of alienation from patriarchal religion, their response in revisioning God-imagery and Church, their seeking nurturing in ecumenical women's groups, and yet their frequent continued deep involvement in their own denominations. "Defecting in place" is the term these investigators coined for such loyalty in the midst of personal alienation. This extremely valuable study documents the growing grass-roots nature of feminist spirituality. Highly recommended for all libraries. --Library Journal
