PETER M. BOCHNAK is Associate Director of Environmental Health and Safety at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. The author of several books and articles, he is a member of the National Academy of Sciences' Industrial Hazards Committee, United States Consumer Product Safety Commission's Fire Combustion Toxicity Group, National Technical Information Service Directory of Fire Research Specialists, Society of Fire Protection Engineers, National Fire Protection Association, American Society of Safety Engineers, National Safety Council, and Campus Safety Association, among others. Mr. Bochnak received the B.S. degree (1968) in fire protection engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, and M.S. degree (1985) in industrial hygiene and systems safety engineering from West Virginia University, Morgantown.
