Synopsis

Between 1906 and 1908, G. R. S. Mead published eleven small books under the series title "Echoes from the Gnosis." These books contain translations and interpretations of the Gnostic writings of the ancients. Long before the discovery of the Nag Hammadi Library, Mead translated these esoteric texts of various origins (Christian, Roman, Greek). He wanted to make this material accessible to the growing number of people at the time eager to encounter this ancient mystical religion based on an intuitive process of knowing oneself and the hidden aspects of life and existence. Upon the publication of the 100-year anniversary edition of the series, the appeal for this same material remains stronger than ever.

À propos de l'auteur

G. R. S. Mead, Hermeticist and scholar was one of the truly great researchers into arcane wisdom. At a time when the esoteric tended to mean little more than table tapping and mysterious phenomena, he was translating into English the gems of Neoplatonic and Egyptian philosophy. In works such as "Thrice Greatest Hermes, The Doctrine of the Subtle Body, Orpheus", and "Fragments of a Faith Forgotten", he almost single handedly reassembled the lost esoteric tradition of classical Athens and Alexandria and Gnosticism in general.

Stephan A. Hoeller, born in Hungary, speaks regularly at the Los Angeles Gnostic Society on Western inner traditions, with emphasis on Jungian psychology and Gnostic wisdom. He is the author of "The Gnostic Jung and the Seven Sermons to the Dead" and "Jung and the Lost Gospels: Insights into the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hammadi Library."
