This volume is developed from a symposium sponsored by the Division of Agrochemicals at the 207rd National Meeting of the American Chemical Society, San Diego, California, March 13-17, 1994. It documents ongoing research efforts exploring the molecular understanding of insecticide action, in particular, the action of insecticides on major ion channel families, voltage-sensitive channels, ligand-gated channels and biopesticide-induced channels. The book presents recent advances in how researchers envision molecular binding sites of insecticides on ion channels and the molecular alterations of these sites that result in site-insensitive resistance mechanisms. It also describes new receptor/ion channels and mosaic receptor organizations as novel sites of insecticide action.
