Ken Laali received his PhD in organofluorine chemistry in 1977 from University of Manchester (Robert Haszeldine and Brian Booth); following postdoctoral stints in Europe (1977-1982) at King's College London (V. Gold), Strasbourg (J. Sommer), Amsterdam (H. Cerforntain), and ETH-Zurich (H. Zollinger), he moved to Univ. Southern California in 1982 to work with George Olah. In 1985 he accepted a faculty position at Kent State University, becoming full professor in 1996.
