The next section discusses the major approaches to analysis of the inverse problem with a detailed description of multipole technique applied to the bioelectric and biomagnetic fields measured on or near the body surface. Special emphasis is placed on the interrelationship between the electric and magnetic fields of the same bioelectric generator. The last section explains the new approaches to chronotopographical representation of the electrophysiological characteristics deduced from the parameters of the bioelectric generator. The text includes the most recent experimental protocols and results from studies in electro- and magnetocardiology and electro- and magnetoneurology.
