The Porsche 911, introduced in 1963, is still the world’s favorite high-performance sports car. Rather like the car it describes, the evergreen Porsche 911 Story continues to delight marque enthusiasts of all ages, having been originally published in 1976 and having remained in print ever since, through eight editions. Describing the full history of this timeless sports car, this classic book is brought right up to date in a totally redesigned ninth edition that includes details of the models produced since 2006. Respected motoring journalist and Porsche expert Tony Dron picks up the torch to update this definitive work by the late Paul Frère.
The late Paul Frere -- engineer, writer and former top racing drive--drove virtually every Porsche 911 variant, and was regarding by Porsche almost as part of the family. He carried out the last update of his book at the age of 88, but sadly died in February 2008 at the age of 91.
For the ninth edition, the torch passes to Tony Dron, who echoes Frere's special qualities in so many ways that he is without doubt the best writer to take over the task of updating his esteemed book.
