Siemen van Berkum (Phd) has a position at the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (LEI) in The Hague (The Netherlands) as head of section International Trade and Development. He has extensive experience in (European) agricultural policy and international market and chain analysis. He has substantial knowledge of agricultural and rural policy developments as well as experience of assessing the development needs of the agricultural and food sector in Central Europe. He has working experience in almost all new EU member states from the East as well as in several (non-EU-member) Balkan countries, Turkey and in Russia.
