The material in the book has been collated from the vast, in-depth store of literature available through the Water Research Centre's online file AQUALINE as well as from earlier material. To aid reader understanding, the sections are organised alphabetically, by author and then by date; most of the items include bibliographic details and an abstract. Based on proceedings of a conference held by the Water Research Centre at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in April 1983.
