Synopsis
The theme of this issue of "Soundings" is "Active Welfare". It includes critical analysis of several innovative initiatives in welfare practice in Britain and continental Europe, together with reflections on the different cultural and political approaches to state-citizen relationships which underpin them. Contributors discuss crime prevention in France, projects for migrant workers and their families in France and Sweden, empowering users of mental health services in Britain, and care in the community in Italy.
