Soft cover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. First Edition. First impression of the true first edition, published in 1980 as a poetry pamphlet - the poet's first poetry collection. This copy has been inscribed by the author at the top of the front free endpaper "For Tom and Val with love, Aggie. Hebden Bridge, 27/9/80." Tom is Tom Raworth - English-Irish poet, publisher, editor, and teacher who published over 40 books of poetry and prose during his life. Raworth was a key figure in the British Poetry Revival. ***Very good in plain white stapled card covers. The covers are clean, but there is some creasing which continues throughout the first half of the pamphlet, mainly at the bottom corners. The internal pages are clean without tears. ***In a very good thin grey illustrated paper dustwrapper, printed in red. No tears, just light creasing at the bottom corner of the front panel. ***24 pages. 218 mm x 142 mm. ***'Agneta Falk was born in Stockholm; has lived in England for the past ten years. She studied drama and music in Sweden and has given song recitals in this country as well as readings from her own work. She began to write in English two years ago. Her poems show an affinity with the music of the great eighteenth-century Swedish poet Bellman and the expressive language of Edith Södergran, although within her own originality it can be discerned only as homage rather than influence. The incisive beauty and apt brevity of her poems are underlined by a use of language which is both direct and complex. Hers is an imagery of metaphysics rooted in an accuracy of description around such themes as love, landscape, portrait and the subjective structures. This is her first published collection of poems'. [Quote taken from the front flap of the dustwrapper] ***First impression of the true first edition, in the original card covers with paper dustwrapper. An uncommon publication, especially signed. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc. Inscribed by Author(s).
