Synopsis
A collection of papers examining the development of writing in German in Switzerland since 1945. After an examination of the social and cultural milieu and the two major figures of Frisch and Duerrenmatt, the principal part of the book looks at the work of 12 younger writers. A final section maps out possible lines of future development for the writers who are now coming to prominence in a predominantly European - rather than just Swiss - context.
