Contributions includes a foreword from our patron, HRH The Countess of Wessex, comments from Mencap s celebrity ambassadors and an afterpiece by another parent, David Cameron. The book includes the thoughts of Chairman Brian Baldock and a brief biography of Mencap s three presidents, Lord Renton, Lord Allen of Abbeyvale and currently, Lord Rix. It discusses Mencap s initiatives including families, healthcare, profound and multiple learning disability, Mencap s political work at Westminster and includes a learning disability timeline - a history of legislation on learning disability. Each book also comes with an interactive dvd for people who might have difficulty reading the book itself. This fascinating book will be launched in November 2006 and ensures that the struggles and successes of people with a learning disability, their parents and carers over the years, will be chronicled and readily available for generations to come. The books, both hardback and softback, are beautifully produced with 24 pages of illustrations, 8 of them in colour. The proceeds go to benefit Mencap and its vitally important work.
