Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. This is a charming and unique associational copy of the first hardcover edition, published by White Lion in the UK in 1973. It is signed and inscribed on its first three pages by author Avram Davidson (all in the same handwriting with the same black felt-tip pen), and includes Davidson's hand-written and signed gift note on stationery of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. On the front end paper he wrote, "For Mr. Martin Roogna, this romance, With the Compliments of the Author". On the half-title page, he signed "Avram Davidson". And on the title page he added, "(original title: 'Valentine's planet')". The tipped-in note to "Dear Mr. Roogna" has a short gift inscription, is dated "October 3, 1977", and signed "Sincerely, Avram Davidson, Writer-in-Residence, College of Wm. & Mary". This book and its dust jacket are both in very good+ condition. The book is marred only by some spine lean, light wear on spine ends, and a tiny black dot on the top right corner of its front cover. Its binding is sound. Covers are otherwise unmarked and unworn, with bright silver titles on its spine. Pages are unworn and -- other than the author's hand-writing -- unmarked. Its dust jacket, now protected by a removable mylar cover, is whole, bright and unmarked, with some wear on the ends of its spine and flap folds. I will ship this book in a moisture proof zip-loc bag, padded in bubble wrap, inside a sturdy box to assure it reaches its new owner in the same condition as my description. Simply noted: I searched ISFDB and the web for "Martin Roogna", and found that name as the translator (into central European languages) for a few genre books. Signed by Author(s).
