Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. 1st Edition. Very good large-format hardcover copy in the original blue cloth binding, with a clean, very well-preserved interior and sound binding. The page edges show very slight age-related discolouration. The upper right corner of the front board is slightly bumped, affecting the first few pages. There is also a small indentation along the right edge of the front board and a bumped upper corner of the rear board, with slight creasing to the final few pages. The original illustrated dust jacket is in good condition, showing some edge wear, minor creasing and light discolouration to the rear panel. Please see photographs for a detailed impression of the condition. An important and extensively illustrated scholarly catalogue of Chinese ceramics in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, by Christiaan J.A. Jörg in collaboration with Jan van Campen. The publication documents approximately 400 objects from the museum's renowned collection of Ming and Qing dynasty ceramics, many published for the first time. Among the subjects covered are Kraak porcelain, Transitional wares, Kangxi blue and white, famille verte, famille rose, Chine de commande, blanc de Chine, Yixing wares and imperial Chinese ceramics. Detailed catalogue entries and introductory studies explore the development of Chinese ceramics, the Dutch trade with China and the historical context of Chinese export porcelain. Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Dust Jacket Included. 1st Edition. English text; Hardcover (with dust jacket); 22.5 x 29.5 cm, 2.3 kg; 352 pages with various colour illustrations of the main catalogue plus supplement of 90 pages with text.; Used with minor signs of wear on the exterior and interior. The supplement shows edge wear, scuffs and scratches on the exterior and also a wear mark at the bottom right of the front cover due to a sticker removal. Interior as new.; The Chinese ceramics in the Rijksmuseum comprise one of the finest but least published collections of Chinese porcelain in the world. The Dutch were the first and most successful of the Western nations to develop trading links with China. This book is the first scholarly publication of the Rijksmuseum's magnificent collection of Ming and Qing seventeenth and eighteen-century wares exported to Holland. The 400 pieces included, many published here for the first time, are described and illustrated in full colour. These include Kraak and Transitional porcelains, a wide selection of Kangxi underglaze blue and polychrome wares, famille rose and other eighteen-century enamelled wares, Chine de commande, blanc de Chine and Yixing wares. In addition there is a selection of imperial wares and pieces made for the Chinese market which includes rare and unusual pieces. The importance of the book lies in the quality of the collection and the scholarly commentaries to the pieces which include the most up-to-date research. Extensive introductory sections provide background information to the wares described and illustrated and place the objects in historical context.; The Supplement covers all other Chinese ceramics of the Ming and Qing dynasties from the Rijksmuseum holdings not included in the catalogue, so that the museum's entire collection is comprised in these two publications.
