Synopsis

CRAMES are practical, user-friendly activities that get children thinking creatively. The stimulating trigger questions develop problem solving and creative thinking skills in activities that take as little as 5 minutes a day. No preparation is needed, just children ready to think creatively. The activities could be used as early morning or after lunch activities to get the children into a mindset for learning.

For example: Ask the children to think about and then discuss ’What if no history had ever been recorded?’

CRAMES, Creative Games to Help Children Learn to Think and Problem Solve (in only 5 minutes a day!) focuses on many aspects of creative thinking:

  • Fluency
  • Synectics
  • Flexibility
  • Imagination
  • Originality
  • Risk taking
  • Elaboration
  • Curiosity
  • Lateral thinking
  • Problem solving
  • Evaluation

The activities range from ‘What if?’ and ‘How many ways …?’ questions to ‘describing things from a different point of view’ and choosing ‘which you would rather be’.

Présentation de l'éditeur

CRAMES uses practical user-friendly activities to introduce children to thinking creatively and problem solving. This book focuses on many aspects of Creative Thinking; Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, Elaboration, Lateral thinking, Synetics, Imagination, Risk taking, Curiosity, Problem solving and Evaluation. The creative thinking games are broken down into categories to ensure a variety of these aspects are included. Stimulating trigger questions develop problem solving and creative thinking skills. The activities take as little as 5 minutes a day and no preparation is needed. Children s self-confidence and self-esteem will increase as they realise there are no wrong answers, anything goes. It is possible for the educator (teacher, parent or carer) to give positive feedback for all responses. As the children get more comfortable with free creative thinking the usual 3 or 4 answers to a problem can easily become 50. To understand the importance of unrestrained creative thinking, just consider how many successful ideas have been produced as a result of a think tank or brainstorming session.
