Synopsis
So much is expressed in so few words making them much more accessible than full novels. When reading a poem, children bring their own thoughts, experiences and emotions to the meaning making them intensely personal. Giving children the opportunity to learn these poems gives them the opportunity to fi nd out more about themselves and the world around them.

With over 20 years teaching experience, Kate Heap is a Primary English Consultant in Leeds. She’s loved supporting other teachers through a variety of roles including Initial Teacher Training, NQT Mentor, English & Assessment Lead and Advanced Skills Teacher.
