So much is expressed in so few words making them much more accessible than full novels. When reading a poem, children bring their own thoughts, experiences and emotions to the meaning making them intensely personal. Giving children the opportunity to learn these poems gives them the opportunity to fi nd out more about themselves and the world around them.
