With over 20 years teaching experience, Kate Heap is a Primary English Consultant in Leeds. She's loved supporting other teachers through a variety of roles including Initial Teacher Training, NQT Mentor, English & Assessment Lead and Advanced Skills Teacher.
Now she's excited to be able to share her expertise more widely with the Developing Reading Comprehension Skills series.
We are living in an information-rich, fast-paced, scientific world. Developing solid general knowledge and an understanding of current events is key to becoming a contributing member of society who is thoughtful and aware. Reading non-fiction will help children to develop the core knowledge they need and broaden their understanding of what is going on in their local area, nationally and internationally – in the past, present and into the future.
